The
iControl Water Sensor can notify you when it comes into contact with water.
The sensor lets you know when a water leak has occurred in your property
or business so that you can try to minimize any potential damage.
In your home or at the home of an elderly or disabled family member, you
can place it near a hot water heater, in a sump pump well (if normally
dry), under sinks, beside water beds or a hot tub, or in places where
outside water might seep into an basement, room, or storage area.
In a vacation home, the iControl Water Sensor could alert you if the pipes
burst so that you can respond quickly rather than discovering wet carpet
or floors weeks or months later when you come up for a visit, thereby
potentially saving thousands of dollars in damages from dampness, mildew
and rot to carpet, furniture, ceilings, and more. At a rental property,
you could place one near the hot water heater and know if the heater fails
before your tenants call a plumber for expensive weekend repair service;
you can then proactively call the tenants and schedule repair during the
week, lowering your replacement costs by hundreds of dollars.
In your business, you could use the iControl Water Sensor in storage rooms,
warehouses, kitchens, or anywhere where a hot water heater, water tank,
freezer, outside rainwater, runoff or snow could create damage. For example,
it can installed in storage rooms, where a notification from your iControl
system may enable your staff to minimize water damage to your inventory.
The iControl Water Sensor consists of two components: transmitter and
detector. The iControl Water Sensor activates when water contacts the
detector. Water that reaches detector's contact points activates the transmitter,
causing it to send an alarm wirelessly to your iControl box. The sensor
alerts you through your iControl web page that it has detected water.
You can configure your iControl system to send you an email or text message
when it receives this alert. You can view the alert on a PDA, cellphone,
or PC that has a browser and an Internet connection. If the water recedes,
the sensor also indicates this change by indicating that no water is present.
The detector needs to be in direct contact with water. While it cannot
indicate the water depth, it can indicate if water is present. The alarm
history on your iControl web page will have a date and time to indicate
when it first sensed water.
Access to the iControl web page, notifications and alert receipt require
an active subscription to the iControl online service.
