The iControl Solution

This diagram illustrates how the iControl solution works.

The iControl box connects to your existing router and DSL modem or cable modem. Any wired cameras connect to your router and you access the images and video via your iControl web page. Any wireless cameras connect to the wireless router and you access the images and video via your iControl web page. Devices such as door/window sensors do not require wires and they communicate via radio frequency waves with your iControl box. Power control switches are plugged into wall outlets and communicate with your iControl box. Thermostats are installed by first removing the existing thermostat and installing the new thermostat.

The only device that requires a network connection is a wired camera. All the sensors and the wireless camera do not require a network connection; they either communicate wirelessly or via existing electrical wiring. In addition, most of these devices are battery powered so no power is needed. Only the iControl box, cameras and lamp modules require power. You do not need to have a PC connected to the iControl box to operate your iControl solution. You access your iControl web page to configure, view and manage your iControl products via a web browser on a PC, PDA, or smartphone.
