The
iControl Freeze Sensor can detect a freezing condition in a home or business.
In homes, it can be installed in a cellar, near pipes susceptible to freezing,
storage sheds, poorly heated areas or anywhere where the threat of freezing
is a concern. Freezing conditions could occur because the heating is failing
or has failed, an unexpected turn in the weather, blocked heating ducts
and more. For example, if you are out of town and have not turned on the
heat for the Fall, you will be notified if, for example, an unexpected
cold snap has dropped the temperatures in your house.
In businesses, it is useful in warehouses, server rooms, or storage areas
where the materials or content needs to be kept well above freezing temperatures.
Homeowners with vacation homes in cold weather locations will find it
useful to warn them if a heating system is failing or has failed.
When the temperature falls to approximately 41°F, the sensor communicates
with the iControl box. In moments, you can see an alert and this temperature
on your iControl web page. You can view your iControl web page on a PDA,
cellphone or PC that has a browser and an Internet connection. You can
also configure your iControl box to send you an email or text message
when the iControl system receives this alert. By alerting you before the
temperature reaches freezing, you have time to investigate the cause of
the falling temperature and take appropriate action.
The iControl Freeze Sensor communicates to the iControl box when the temperature
rises to 50°F. With the iControl solution, you can choose to receive
a notification if the temperature rises above 50°F.
Access to the iControl web page, notifications and alert receipt require
an active subscription to the iControl online service.
